Joe Heuer is vice president, general counsel and secretary for Worthington Steel with nearly 20 years of experience as an attorney and trusted advisor to companies on corporate governance, SEC compliance, mergers and acquisitions, shareholder matters and executive compensation.
He joined Worthington in August 2023 and helped support the planned separation of Worthington Steel from Worthington Industries. Prior to Worthington, he worked for PubMatic, Inc., where he directed compliance with the securities laws and provided counsel to senior management and the board of directors. He also spent time at InMarket Media, LLC, a late-stage start-up company, where he was responsible for its initial public offering registration statement and advising on how to transition from a private to public company.
Heuer spent the first 16 years of his legal career at Big Lots, Inc., where he worked his way up to vice president, assistant general counsel and assistant corporate secretary. Along with advising senior management and the board on a variety of legal matters, he oversaw the corporate transactions team, which was responsible for commercial and financial transactions, e-Commerce and data security and privacy.
Heuer earned his bachelor’s degree from Miami University, Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School and a Master of Laws from Georgetown University Law Center. He resides in Powell, Ohio with his wife, Lisa, and their two sons.
